History of Use

  • 1950 – Originally built in 1950 as a 32 unit
    housing facility, known as the Park View
    Motel.
  • 1989 – In November 1989 there was an
    addition attached to the south side of the
    Southeast section of the building. This is
    now referred to as the South Wing or dorm
    area.
  • 1999 – On June 10, 1999, the facility
    changed ownership and became the Decatur
    Correctional Center. It remained a housing
    unit facility and work release center for
    Illinois Department of Corrections
    Parolee’s.
  • 2003 – On June 27, 2003, a relocatable
    Classroom Building (Modular Trailer) was
    added to the southwest side of the property
    and referred to as the Relocatable Multi Use
    Building.
  • 2017 – In March 2017 the facility was
    purchased by Jessie R. Bates Properties,
    LLC (dba) Decatur Transitional Housing
    Complex; new renovations to the property
    began and continued through June 2019.
